Privacy Policy — Sticky Timer
Last updated: May 29, 2026
Overview
Sticky Timer (“the Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension that provides floating sticky notes, countdown timers, and productivity tools. This privacy policy explains what data the Extension collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.
Data Collection and Storage
Locally stored data (never sent to the developer):
The Extension stores the following data exclusively in your browser using chrome.storage.local:
- Sticky note content (text you type)
- Timer settings and labels
- Bookmarked tab URLs and titles
- User preferences (language, opacity, panel position)
- Gemini API key (if provided by the user)
This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to the developer or any third party by the Extension itself.
Session data:
Window lock state is stored in chrome.storage.session and is automatically cleared when the browser is closed.
Third-Party Services
Google Gemini API (optional)
If you choose to use the AI Explain feature, you must provide your own Gemini API key obtained from Google AI Studio. When this feature is used, text you have selected on a webpage is sent directly to Google’s Gemini API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) using your own API key. This transmission is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. The developer of this Extension does not receive, store, or process this data.
YouTube Music
The Extension can read playback information (song title, artist, play state, volume) from an open YouTube Music tab when you use the music player feature. This data is used only to display controls within the Extension panel and is never stored or transmitted externally.

All locally stored data remains until you uninstall the Extension or manually clear it. You can delete all data at any time by uninstalling the Extension or clearing Chrome’s extension storage.
